Winter Wonderland Trail Running - 2024: A Historic Event in Chhattisgarh
On February 4, 2024, history was made in Chhattisgarh as the first trail running event of the state was successfully organized by District Administration, Pahadi Bakra Adventure and Runners XP. The event, named “Winter Wonderland Trail Running - 2024”, attracted more than 200 participants from different parts of the country, including eminent IAS, IPS, and IFS officers.
The event was held in the scenic area of Jashpur, a district known for its natural beauty, rich culture, and tribal heritage. The trail running route covered a distance of 30 km, starting from Deshdekha and passing through the forests and villages of Jashpur. The route also featured an elevation gain of approximately 1000 meters, adding a moderate challenge to the runners.
The event aimed to promote trail running as a sport and a lifestyle in Chhattisgarh, as well as to showcase the skills and spirit of the local people. Trail running is a form of long-distance running that takes place on natural terrain, such as hills, mountains, forests, and deserts. It requires endurance, agility, and adaptability, as well as a love for nature and adventure.
The event was supported by JASHPURE, a local brand that provided healthy and delicious food to the participants. The winners of the event were Pankaj Ram Bhagat from the Jashpur tribal community, who finished the race in 2 hours and 15 minutes, Durgeshwar from Korba, who came second with a time of 2 hours and 18 minutes, and Kuldeep Lakra from Jashpur, who secured the third position with a time of 2 hours and 21 minutes. The participants ranged from 18 to 56 years old, demonstrating the diversity and inclusivity of the event.
The Winter Wonderland Trail Running - 2024 was a landmark event in the history of Chhattisgarh, as it marked the first time that such a sport was organized and participated in the state. The event also showcased the potential of Jashpur as a destination for adventure tourism and cultural exchange.
