The Heart of JASHPURE: Reviving Food Traditions & Empowering Tribal Women

In a world of mass-produced food, finding something that’s handmade and consistent is rare. At JASHPURE, we chose the harder path — supporting tribal women using traditional methods to create preservative-free food. But that choice comes with a big responsibility:

How do we ensure that every handmade batch tastes just as good as the last?


Our Approach: A Fine Balance of Tradition & Precision

We’re proudly small-scale and low-tech, but we’re serious about quality. Every batch is crafted by tribal women with care, and we’ve built simple but effective systems to maintain consistency. Below are a few examples:

Jaggery Sweetness Calibration

Jaggery’s sweetness changes from batch to batch. Our women are trained to test and adjust the sweetness using custom formulas we’ve developed. It’s traditional, but with a layer of precision.

Getting the Ingredients Just Right

A little too much spice or a slight misstep can alter the taste. So, we introduced digital scales. It was a shift for many women who’d cooked by instinct all their lives. But now, each ingredient is measured to the gram, ensuring the same flavor every time.

Training for Temperature Control

Seasons change, and so does the temperature. To maintain consistency, we use temperature probes. There was initial resistance — “Why use a machine when we’ve cooked all our lives?” But after hands-on training at NIFTEM-K and Vedic Vatica, they saw the impact. Controlled heat = reliable results.

Master Trainers: The Backbone of Quality

Every product has a designated master trainer — a tribal woman who oversees the batch. She ensures every step follows our standards, keeping the quality intact.

And while we’re proud of this progress, we know we’re just getting started.


We Don’t Call It Innovation — We Call It Tradition Respected

In a market where 90% of packaged food contains preservatives or artificial additives, we made a different choice at JASHPURE: No preservatives. No stabilizers. No shortcuts.

Instead, we went back to the roots:

  • Mahua Vanyaprash is slow-cooked over wood fires in earthen pots, just like our elders did.
  • Herbs are dried naturally near mud-wood stoves, keeping their color, aroma, and nutrients intact.
  • We use earthen cookware and cast iron pans for deeper flavors and better nutrition.

Yes, it costs more. But we believe it’s worth it — and we know our customers feel the same.
